You might be surprised at what gets trapped inside your child’s winter coat throughout the season—germs, drool, playground dirt, and even leftover snack crumbs! 😬 That’s why we recommend giving it a good wash at least once per season to keep it fresh and hygienic.

How to Keep Faux Fur Looking Fluffy & Fresh
Many of our coats come with removable faux fur trim for added warmth and style. To keep it looking its best:
✔ Always remove the faux fur trim before washing. Washing can weaken the fibers, causing them to shed or lose their shape.
✔ Detangle gently using a firm bristle brush—brush in the direction of the hair for the best results.
✔ If needed, lightly spot clean with water and a color-safe soap. Rinse well and hang to dry.
Washing Your Appaman Down Coat
The good news? Appaman Down coats can be machine washed and dried! 🎉 Just be sure to remove any fur trim first.
Machine Wash Instructions:
- Use cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild, color-safe detergent.
- Avoid fabric softeners and bleach—they can damage the coat’s insulation and fabric.
- If your washer has a hand wash or delicate setting, that’s the best option!
Drying Instructions:
- Tumble dry on low heat with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls—this helps fluff up the down filling!
- Be patient! Drying must be done slowly and completely to prevent clumping or mildew.
- Air drying is an option, but it may take longer—ensure it’s fully dry before storing!
